The Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) team are a group of specialists who provide services to organisations in the area of preventative OH&S. The team works to provide solutions that reduce the risk of injury and liability for organisations and their employees.
The OH&S Consulting team is comprised of specialists in risk assessment, ergonomics, manual handling, OH&S system design and training.

All consulting projects are developed in response to an assessed need within an organization. Thorough consultation with major stakeholders takes place prior to the delivery of a consulting proposal. This ensures all needs are addressed and that the service offered to the organization is matched with its culture, structure and industry. Projects may include:

Re-Start Consulting have a number of targeted training programs to assist organisations in ensuring their workforce are aware, skilled and competent to ensure their own well being and the well being of their staff or colleagues. workcover training programmes (NSW specific)
introduction to return to work coordination
WorkCover NSW states that every Category 1 employer must designate a Return-to-Work Coordinator, who must be suitably trained. Return-to-Work Coordinators are key drivers
in the return to work process of a worker who is injured at work. They act as a link between all relevant parties.
This two day WorkCover accredited training program covers:
- The Workcover scheme; employer and workers responsibilities
- Return to Work programs
- Role of the return to Work coordinator, Initial interview, Confidentiality, Working with non-english speaking background clients, liasing with key players
- Role of the insurer, Insurance arrangements, Injury Management Plan, Claims Procedures, Premium Calculation

oh&s consultation in the workplace training
Current Occupational Health & Safety legislation (OH&S Act 2000 & OH&S Regulation 2001) stipulates that all workplaces must have arrangements to enable OH&S consultation. Establishing an OH&S Committee; electing OH&S Representatives or establishing other agreed arrangements can meet these requirements. Once an OH&S Committee or members have been elected, they must attend a four day WorkCover accredited training programme within 3 months of being elected.

workplace ergonomics
Re-Start Consulting can provide information on ergonomics; good posture; overuse type injuries; modifying work practices; adjusting workstations for individuals. In addition to group training sessions, we can provide each worker with an individual workstation consultation. Employers (management) receive a report that details recommendations
for equipment and workstation modifications for each staff member.
manual handling
Re-Start Consulting provides manual handling training (based on the National Standards and Code of Practice) specific to an organisation’s needs. Each training package includes
a training session followed by practical sessions within the workplace.
ergonomics for supervisors or managers
Ergonomics for Supervisors or Managers is a two day course, which teaches competency in the assessment of computer based workstations. The course covers legislation, anatomy, exercise, posture, computer-related equipment, correct workstation set-up, identifying ergonomic needs and workplace modification.
OH&S responsibilities for managers
OH&S Responsibilities for Managers is a course, which is structured to suit the specific needs of an organisation. Topics include legislation, induction procedures, ergonomics, manual handling and identifying OH&S related training needs. The course is applied
to OH&S legislation and has a practical emphasis on risk assessment and risk control.

Risk Assessment training courses are designed specifically for the needs of each organisation. Each course covers hazard identification, risk assessment, risk ranking, risk control, and the process of maintenance and review of risk assessments. To make the learning experience more relevant, industry specific examples are used throughout each course.
fatigue management
Fatigue management and awareness has become a pressing issue within many organisations. Re-Start Consulting offers a program which provides managers and staff with insight into the issues surrounding fatigue including physiological function, symptoms of fatigue, potential risks, assessing the risks and identifying techniques to eliminate the risks.
stress in the workplace – prevention
As the workplace becomes more complex, workplace stress is becoming a more prominent issue for many organisations. This training course assists participants to understand stressors in the workplace and how they can lead to poor performance and illness. The programme provides participants with a variety of techniques to reduce the stress in their workplace and to develop appropriate coping skills.
